Thousands of flamingoes have migrated to Kenya’s Lake Bogoria from Lake Natron in neighboring Tanzania. The flamingoes seasonally flock to the lake earning the attention of would be visitors at the region’s only heated therapeutic pool, dotted with hot springs that are sizzling enough to boil an egg. Travel video about destination Lake Bogoria. Lake Bogoria is one of the most fascinating lakes of the Great Rift Valley that physically divides Kenya. The Lake Bogoria National Reserve was founded in 1970 and today covers an area of a hundred and seven square kilometres. Unlike most of Kenya's other nature reserves the area around Lake Bogoria has not yet become a busy safari destination thus it is calm and tranquil. It contains several remote and peaceful areas in which animals, and particularly flamingos, can be observed at close quarters. Along the western shores of the lake hot water geysers shoot up into the air. They indicate the subterranean energy of this volcanic region. The flamingos inhabit the opposite shores due to the high temperatures and sulphurous gases.At Lake Bogoria both Nature's origins and the development of the landscape of the Great Rift Valley reveal themselves in all their original might and splendour.

The onset of the long December holidays heralds a season where Female Genital Mutilation or FGM, is given life. In some parts of Baringo South,Baringo North and Tiaty constituencies, many girls drop out of school due to this retrogressive practice, with some ending up in early child marriages. It is this that got Lydia Ndetewo, the General manager at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort to give of her time and preach against a practice that continues to rob girls in Baringo county of a chance to a good education.
